Rankings - College DI-A Rankings

Kutztown has been building toward this season for some time – Bruce Dolan, Mike Lawrenson and Gareth Lourens headline a big crop of seniors. Niku Kruger is finally healthy, and maybe the best scrumhalf in the country. The Golden Bears, aside from one close game, were extremely impressive this fall, even if they didn’t play the likes of Arkansas State, Life or St. Mary’s. So we move them up one to No. 5.

Penn State beat every comer this fall except KU, and that’s with some freshmen factoring in at some important positions. The Nittany Lions move past Cal Poly, Navy and UCF.

Clemson nearly knocked off Penn State, losing by a single point in the ACRC quarterfinals. That, plus an undefeated run through the ACRL, sees the Tigers move up, too.

UCF was active in the fall, winning a second-straight Florida College Cup, but the Knights didn’t play much in the way of competition, so they slide just a bit.

Bowling Green moves up a couple of slots after leading Kutztown at halftime of the ACRC semifinal before ultimately being run by in the second half.

Making the biggest moves since our last ranking over a month ago are the East Coast teams – Middlebury and AIC. The Panthers crushed Empire Champ Stony Brook in the ACRC Quarters, and AIC, whose only loss was to Middlebury, beat St. Bonaventure soundly in an ACRC bowl game.

Maryland also moves up because of an ACRC bowl win over Miami (OH) and on the coattails of Clemson’s performance. The Terps lost to the Tigers by just eight in league play.
